My name is Désirée Jung and my intention here is an immersion into words. Writing my biography is a bit like witnessing the spectrum of my own gaze – an impossible task, due to its volatile and vulnerable contingency. For that reason, I let the poems speak for myself, signing my desire.

I was born in Brazil but have lived and worked in Canada for the past 25 years. My work touches on subjects that involve imperfection, failures of language, miscommunication and any forms of nonsensical ‘madness.’  

My academic background includes a Film Foundation Degree from Vancouver Film School, as well as a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and a Doctorate in Comparative Literature, all from the University of British Columbia.

I am a member of Espaço Brasileiro de Estudos Psicanalíticos-Rio as well as Corpo Freudiano Vancouver.
